painting again 1.18.2018

Last year, I hardly picked up a paintbrush. I’m not sure why. Perhaps I had ceramics taking over my brain;)  This year I vow to put the paintbrush into action again! Ceramics will have to make a little room for painting, because I want to practice both. It’s often a bit daunting for me to…

beach art 12.29.2016

My sweetheart and I spent the first two weeks of December on the beach at beautiful Sanibel Island, Florida. Long walks on the ocean shore provided new beach art to view every day. I met the young artists of only a couple of works, both pre-teens. Here are some of my favorites! I took along…

new painting 6.28.2016

Here’s my latest painting – a painting from a photograph of my love and I taken in the summer of 2012. Acrylic on stretched canvas, it measures 20 inches wide by 16 high. Originally I attempted to freehand draw our faces, but became frustrated with not being able to get the face detail proportions correct.…

painting blue 3.24.2016

Here’s my latest painting. It’s acrylic, with a bit of black marker, on canvas, and measures 10 x 10 inches. I like the grid pattern, and will use that again in future paintings.

painting in progress 2.24.16

I started this painting years ago, and mentioned it on this blog about one year ago, and I think I’ve finally finished it. I find calling a painting “finished” a difficult thing. There’s always something I could touch up. Or fix. Or adjust. But at some point, I need to stop fiddling with the piece,…

cityscape 4.18.2015

I’m still drawing and sketching and painting when I can find the time. Here’s a recent watercolor of a cityscape. Click on the image to view it at a larger size.

spiral love 4.4.2015

Getting a chance a couple times a week now to draw and paint. The minutes and hours and days are less momentary and are beginning to have form. Less crazed and more calm. More space and breathing. I won’t write my usual monthly review post, because there just isn’t much to write about this month.…

still here 3.18.2015

My new and temporary role as caretaker to my healing son is taking up much of my time. I haven’t been able to draw and paint quite as often as planned, but am still here, working in small chunks of found time. And those chunks are getting bigger and bigger. This is a watercolor I…
